The children have returned after the half term break with a great deal of exciting news about their holiday adventures. It is great to see them so refreshed and keen to start a new half term.
This half term our topic is 'The Spirit of Christmas' which is all about the Christian story of Christmas and the celebrations involved. We will of course be practising our Christmas nativity play which is called 'Stable by Starlight'. We will provide all the costumes for you so there is no need to get the sewing machines out just yet!
During the next few weeks, the children will be continuing their 'Read, Write, Inc' sessions and performing lots of practical Christmas mathematics activities both inside and outside the classroom. During our topic work we will be performing role plays outside in the forest acting out the nativity story. We will be thinking about the needs of our animals at school over the winter months and making lots of environmental Christmas decorations with natural materials.
Our children are all looking forward to the Children in Need ramble on Friday and we hope to see many of you there too.
We often have visits from our buddies and other children throughout the school. Today, one of our year four children visited us to read a story at home time. What a treat!

Wands and bonfire magic!
We have had a fantastic time in the forest making wands and protecting wildlife over the winter months.
We made some hedgehog homes in the forest so that they could be warm and hibernate over the winter months. We celebrated with hot chocolate!

Fun with letters
We have been learning all about our letters, how to form them correctly and finding objects that begin with a certain letter on our outdoor adventures! We have just finished m,a,s,d,t and we have been doing some word blending. During our 'd' activities we made dinosaur masks and painted d's with dinosaur footprints. We decorated doughnuts and played with dinosaurs. Great fun!
