Rainbow Fish and Autumn adventures!

What a great week we have had in Reception. The children are settling in so well and enjoying their 'Under the Sea' topic.

We have been continuing our Read, Write, Inc sessions and have been exploring the letters d, t, i. We have been printing with dinosaur feet, decorating delicious doughnuts and forming the letter 'd' in a variety of different ways. During our 't' activities we have been printing with car tyres on giant 't' templates, building tall towers with lego and duplo and using playdough, hama beads and plastic elephants to form letter t's correctly. The letter 'i' was great fun as we could go exploring the school woods for insects together!

In maths we have been exploring capacity and volume through our 'Under the Sea' themed water tray. We have used different sizes of scoops, containers and cylinders with sea creatures, glitter and colour thrown in too! What fun we have had!

We have been reading the story of 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister which is a delightful way for children to learn about friendships and sharing together.

In Forest School we have been searching for autumn treasures such as blackberries, conkers and apples. We have also been leaf detectives and identified many different species of tree.
